I was, of course, in a hurry. Pulling out the pieces I need to put together a card for a friend while I'm on the go. Believe me, I'd much rather be camped out in my cozy crafty corner all day...but thems the breaks.
Here is part of my pile of cardboard packaging I've been cutting. The plan: make zillions of diecuts, emboss them, and paint them! All from perfectly good packaging cardboard. Upcycling at its best! I'll post about it. I love the idea of creating a nice stash of diecut embellishments.
Isn't this hemp cord cute? I'm going to crochet necklace cords with it. I found it, of all places, at Wal-mart. (or, Wally World as my friends and I call it) Sometimes you can find a treasure in their short craft aisle. Every time I go to Wal-Mart, there is a "theme." Sometimes it's babies-crying-in-every-aisle day. Sometimes it's women-inappropriately-dressed day. When I was there the other day it was let's-just-block-the-whole-aisle-with-our-shopping-cart-and-kids day. I swear, in every aisle, someone had their shopping cart completely blocking it with out-of-control children flailing about! You gotta love Wally World. Rant over.
So now, I think I've earned my favorite breakfast from Panera. Woo hoo! And happy Wednesday lovelies.
Eat, Write, Dream, Stitch
I often have a desk looking just like yours when I'm busy working on several things! I'll have to check back about the cardboard and diecuts! Enjoy your breakfast! And Happy WOYWW! ~Sandy in Texas #67
ReplyDeleteLol! You made me laugh with your Walmart Woes!! I try and avoid our supermarkets at certain time of the day when mums and small children will be causing chaos! And WHY do people think it's ok to go shopping in their pyjamas???
ReplyDeleteBut, I adore that hemp cord you found there...those colours are gorgeous. They'll make gorgeous hippy necklaces...how are you going to crochet them? I've just learned how to make square knots for friendship bracelets and am quite pleased with myself!
Hugs, LLJ 2 xx
Oooh...I'm going to find a square knot tutorial! That would be cuter than just the chain stitch I was going to do. As you know, I barely know how to crochet!
DeleteHi Sandy Leigh, happy WOYWW....yeah I agree with your shopping themes, I'll be remembering you next time...lol. Great messy desk and recycle all the cardboard yes..I like the thickish ones from the back of pads. I have some similar hemp it's great...cheers have a lovely week RobynO#29
ReplyDeleteAh Wally World like that name.. :) recognise the desk too I specialise in that sort of creativity too :) happy WOYWW Shaz in Oz x#27
ReplyDeleteI will think of you too when I'm next shopping..my current bug bear is the carts and staff that get in my way in every aisle because they're picking internet orders...
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of pre embossed die cut shapes ready for painting..great idea gal!
Blimey, that twine card is about 10 bucks here, so crocheting with it isn't much of an option! My current gripe about shopping is the internet order pickers and their carts which get in my way in evey aisle. See what you've started!!
ReplyDeleteQuite right too, pride in a messy desk, bring it on LOL!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week and happy crafting, Angela x #38
