Art Journal Friday - Art in the Soul

I
A little water color goes a long way in doodling up a face in your art journal to go with your journaling. I love looking in my art journal for a dose of inspiration every day.

WOYWW 199 - Bless This Mess

 Happy-I-Can't-Believe-My-Desk-Is-Such-a-Mess Day! AKA What's-On-Your-Workdesk-Wednesday.

Visit the coolest, most fun blog party on the planet right here.

My box of free loot!
Would you believe, though, that this is a good mess? You see, lately, the universe and the planets have aligned in just the right wink of an eye so that I've won a few goodies here and there! The latest box of winnings came from factorydirectcraft.com. So, I had unpacked the box, gone to Michaels with hubby, and returned with more loot that I bought 50% off and with coupons. I didn't spend much at all and the fun just piled up on me worktable!

Minnie has claimed the box.
I got to go on their website and spend $25--got some cute little things!

I had to have these tiny clothespins!
More winnings.

To my pure delight, Michaels had bins and bins of stuff for 50 cents! I went a little wild.

And I got some 5.99 yarn for 1.99--loading up the stash!
Part of my winnings--but made me wonder if this is why some things on this website are so inexpensive! I don't care--it's still metallic thread no matter how you spell it!

This is the view outside the windows of my crafty corner. Can you believe it? Happy spring! But my new craft stash has certainly warmed my soul. I've got all the Easter baskets done too. Now I'm waiting for the big spring warmup!

Happy WOYWW everyone!

Eat, Write, Dream, Stitch, and stay warm.

Starting Your Garden on a Sunporch

I was pretty happy this year to discover that 20-cent packets of seeds are available, and it really doesn't cost much at all to start your kitchen garden--a garden that will give you salads, sauces, meals, and canned goods all summer.

A few weeks ago I started Roma tomatoes (above in the little red pots), Big Boy and Better Boys tomatoes, and leeks. I don't have any special grow lights, they are just sitting on my sunporch, and I keep them watered. This week I've planted more peppers, marigolds (the "guardians of the garden"), squash and basil.

I start most of my seeds in pots I've recycled, with little plastic shower caps for their "greenhouses" to keep the seeds warm at first. When you see the little seedlings sprout up, remove the covering, give them sunlight and water, and watch them grow for the next couple of months.

In late April, I'll start taking the nursery outside every day to harden off all the little plants. Then it will be a day or two of hard work, getting everything going in the garden.
I have helpers.
I love those days out in the garden. Something about digging in the dirt, and planting seedlings that you've grown yourself is very therapeutic! Taking care of your garden, is like taking care of yourself.

Art Journal Friday--Tags and Doodles

I am sharing a page that is not artistically brilliant--no gorgeous painting like some of the finest art journalists--and not a page I would normally share. But, it is just pure art journaling. It was November, my birthday month, and boy I made the most of it! I think I have three or four pages about what I did in November! Anyhoo...this page was built with five tags for me to doodle on. I recorded my schemes, dreams, and happy thoughts. There's even a chocolate mint wrapper from my birthday lunch at Olive Garden for heavens sake! I even have a typo in my journaling, and I don't care--the important thing is, I wrote something down that I like to look back on!

WOYWW 198 - Balance Is My Nature!

Oh my goodness--look at all that clean space--what in the world is going on! Well it looks like not much...but don't believe your eyes. I knew I had a super busy, stressful week coming up at my office (you know, the place that pays for my crafty goddess life) and so last weekend I cleaned out my craft corner, and got my projects organized on my craft shelves. Still have my bits and bobs tray going too. So the projects are kind of out of sight...but not out of mind.  And the desk is still all sorted out. (Join the WOYWW blog party right here.)

Because work is unusually hectic, I'm keeping up with my Oprah/Depak daily meditations. Today I did "Balance Is My Nature" and it really helped!

Putting something in my art journal every morning helps too--even just a datestamp and a couple of sentences sometimes. And the thing I can't wait to get back to is embroidering the little owls for the bag I'm making for darling daughter.  And now they're predicting a possible snow storm here on Thursday. What are they talking about? Spring has sprung. Has my weatherman been taking a nip? I'm ready to head for Florida at this point to get  away from the winter that wouldn't end.

I hope you are happy, healthy, and having a wonderful WOYWW!

Eat, Write, Dream, Stitch and be thankful for beautiful crafty buddies across the planet who send you something special, exactly when you need it. Hugs dears!
