A messy doodle about Mondays--trying out some new markers |
Believe it or not, all these supplies went perfectly in the shelves, and the shelves fit perfectly in the corner!
I am still working on the arrangement on the wall now--I'll be adding a ribbon board. Nice!
It's really amazing how much crafty clutter a nice set of shelves can take care of! Of course, I wish I had a cute little room where I could just shut the door and leave everything out all the time--but for now, this is a great solution. I can bring things out when I need to, and have a nice spacious cleaned up area when I want. My hubby is very handy, and I'm sure he'll build me that extra room someday (after the new deck and our other big outdoor project!) So today, he gets 20 husband stars!!!
My butterfly scarf is getting longer! I think I'll be adding in the purple spa yarn soon! Happy WOYWW! I hope you all are having a wonderful week with beautiful weather, plenty of sunshine, and loads of creative ideas and goodness in your life. Crafty hugs to you!!
Eat your favorite food...Write in your art journal...Dream up a project...Stitch on fabric, paper and plastic!
Yes, he deserves lots of points. He did a great job with the shelves. #10
ReplyDeleteGreat hubby who deserves the points. I was so impressed how well the bookcase fit. BTW, check out Julie Fee Fan Baltzer's blog (sorry, I don't journal, so can't give you a direct link). You'll have to do an internet search for the address, but she is super with art journals. Much of what she does is free, too. Happy WOYWW from #4 who didn't participate last week (grin).
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of a ribbon board to store your ribbon stash, lucky you I wish I had a crafty husband but I guess I will have to do with my army nurse hubby lol....
ReplyDeleteI have smash books that I really need to start on at the moment they are all empty I have good intentions lol...
Have a happy WOYWW from Maria #16
Great job on the shelves. Your scarf looks wonderful. Can't wait to see it finished!
ReplyDeleteGood for you and hoooray for hubby, those shelves are great. I love art journaling, have a new one ready to go when the last page of the currant one is done.
ReplyDeleteKrisha #40
Well done with the shelves they look great and DH deserves all those stars. Your scarf is coming along beautifully.
ReplyDeleteSandra @23
Clever hubby - he definitely deserves, stars, points etc etc for being such a good lad!! Those shelves hold a hugs amount of stuff! I like your covered drawers to the left of the shelves though, the ones with Paris on them...they're rather fabulous and I love them!
ReplyDeleteHugs, LLJ ~59 xx
I laughed out loud at you awarding your lovely Hubby stars. He certainly deserves them. How brilliant that he made you such beautiful shelves. They fit perfectly don't they. I spied all those gorgeous boxes piled at the side. I have two just like them. Our garden centre sells all sorts of lovely ones but I have to resist temptation.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your new space.
Hugs Lisax #80
Well done hubby building her a nice set of shelves like that! I have a set of IKEA EXPEDIT shelves I need to get put together but my husband is too busy right now...grrr! He is special in a lot of other ways though! Love all the crafty stuff on your shelves now. Enjoy! Vickie #87

ReplyDeleteMelissa J. WOYWW#38
Well done to your hubby! Love your stack of pretty boxes, off to look at the rest of your blog! Chris
ReplyDeleteOhh, really nice new shelf. Why is it that we keep running out of space??!! I tried re-stacking some things last night and realized I just simply need a bigger room. Wonder how hubby will mind sleeping in the small room?? LOL
ReplyDeleteKaren 102
Wow your "new" shelf looks phantastic - I like the colour! Well you can never have enough storage for all the stuff, as you've noticed at my last weeks post ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you for your nice comment on my blog last week and happy WOYWW!
Barbara # 111

ReplyDeleteBernice #69

ReplyDeleteDebxx
Good old hubby, mine is handy too and made my shelves in the corner of my bedroom, even a special dinky one just for distress pads and the like. Your space looks lovely. Thanks for stopping by BJ#42
ReplyDeleteYes your hubby certainly has a place in the good books now - but you have already filled all the shelves where is any new stash going to go??????
ReplyDeleteStill your space looks lovely - enjoy crafting in it!
Hugs,
Cardarian
Sandy, just a quick follow up to your comment. I started watching Julie when she was on the predecessor to SS, when she was a guest artist, then a guest host. She has also been on Quilting Arts TV, also on PBS. I looked her up on the internet and went to her blog. I was truly impressed, even though I don't make art journals. Much of what I make, including backgrounds, are similar to hers. That's why I suggested her. She has something called 30 days of ????? OK, I am not sure I know what I'm talking about, but once you get to her site, you'll know what I meant.
ReplyDeletehubby certainly deserves those stars and the shelves are perfect and made to measure :)
ReplyDeletehappy woyww

Me again - Soul Sister, me likee!! That's a great idea, swapping something made from scraps. Email me your address and I'll see what I can turn up. That's win-win, isn't it? Using up scraps and sending you something pretty!
ReplyDeleteLLJ xx
Your hubby is so handy! Your shelves turned out fab...love the pretty colour you painted them!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my grandaughters blog the ponygirl06. She loves to get comments. I hope to post her card tomorrow.
Definitely worth the points - it's a gorgeous shelf unit, and makes your craft area look lovely. Happy WOYWW, Sharon #79
ReplyDeleteA clever hubby like that really does deserve something special. Love the new shelves.

oh you are so lucky!!! what a sweet husband for making you the awesome shelves!!!!
ReplyDeleteA fun visit with you today, Sandy. You are a very lucky girl to have such a thoughtful and talented husband!! It must feel so joyous to have all those supplies tucked up in the shelves. Good job on the journaling and best of luck with keeping it up consistently!
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming by my place earlier! Have a great week! Darnell #74
Alisa Burke has some online journaling courses. She starts from the basics. I am thinking you could probably adapt her methods to your own style. Just a thought.
ReplyDelete;-)
Hi Sandy, your hubby certainly earned those points with the wonderful shelves he built. It is amazing, as you say, how much will fit onto them and it is such great storage space until you can one day get your own room. Love the scarf you are doing, great colour and design. Journalling certainly is an art form in itself, you will soon find your own unique style........thanks for the visit earlier. Anne x #65
ReplyDeleteOooh fab shelves. Is your husband available for loan? LOL Thank you for visiting my desk. Happy Wednesday. :o)
ReplyDeleteSue x (MiniOwner #72)
Oh great job with the shelves..and believe eme, if/when you achieve the luxury of a room, you'll still want shelves to cupboards....being able to see the stuff really does mean that it gets used!
ReplyDeleteNeat shelves! and I love te stencilling on the walls!
ReplyDeleteHowever I nearly had to lie down on the floor atthe thought of visiting 1oon desks. I never get anywhere near that! Well done you, Cindy #88
I always wonder - would I trade my super-geek DH for a crafty, handyman version? Hummm... still don't know the answer to that one. And Oh yes...WOYWW is good for the soul, good for the mojo, bad for the purse and the housekeeping too! But we love it, every week.
ReplyDeleteLOL! We need new badges that say WOYWW-ers do it every week! :)
Mary Anne
We love our art journal, such a creative outlet.
ReplyDeleteFab shelves...looks like a bit more room there for more lovely stash (hee, hee!).
ReplyDeleteI am also a fan of art journalling, like you say, its a quick art fix, and fun.
Thanks for visiting my desk already
Kyla #86
Isn't it great to get things organized in fashion. Great shelving unit. Thanks for visiting my desk. Trying to get around to all.
ReplyDeleteThat shelf transformation is awesome, wish I could do that. Everything is au natural in our house, we are no handymen/women. Vegemite tastes very salt and you only put a little bit on and you need butter with it. I love your butterfly scarf, would I be able to get the pattern from you pretty please. If you send me your address I can send you some vegemite to try bridget.larsen@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteBridget #3
I'll say your husband deserves all those gold stars, those shelves are perfect - not just practical but pretty too. The craft designated room will come in time I'm sure ... just keep dreaming :)
ReplyDeleteBelated happy WOYWW and have a great week. Elizabeth x #77
Oh my goodness, 100 desks? You are a rock star! I feel good if I make to 15! :) So glad you are joining us. I can't do it every week, but I try a few times a month. I LOVE the color you painted your shelves. Hubby sounds like a keeper! Happy WOYWW. Tammy #102
ReplyDeletehow wonderful for you to have a husband who makes you shelves! what lovely boxes you have! your journal is looking good, keep it up! i too am waiting for a room of my own!
ReplyDeleteTell your husband he's getting a round of applause from me for making you such awesome shelves! And give yourself a round of applause for visiting 100 desks -- holy cow! Did you comment on all of them??? I need your bionic fingers or something! Thanks for visiting me already this week!! ~ Laura #22
ReplyDeleteOhh! Sometimes I wish my hubby was crafty so he could build me things, but I do rather like him the way he is. Besides if he were handy he may want to spend all my paper crafting money on tools! A good sturdy set of shelves is better than gold for us crafters. You sure got a lot of stuff put away nicely on yours. Love how the scarf is coming along.
ReplyDeleteWOW!! Your dear Husband deserves all those stars and more!! he has done a great job... your shelves look fantastic!! your journal is looking fabulous... Have a happy week, Hugs May x x x#52
ReplyDeleteWhat alot of crafty goodness here Sandy and your shelves are perfect, well done hubbie. Good luck finding a journalling course, your books look fabulous.
ReplyDeleteHappy belated WOYWW and thanks for stopping by my space.
hugs {brenda} xox
Hi Sandy, it's really wonderful when our husband supports our idiosyncracies and projects!
ReplyDeleteInstead of taking a course, why don't you look through the videos on youtube first. There are so many generous artists who post what they do. Wish I had a lot of time to just soak it all up! Have fun with your journal! Patsy
How brilliant your hubby is - making perfect shelves that just slide into place! Us crafters can craft from anywhere, I do mine on my bed with little trays. Never say never to a crafter huh!!! Keep smiling!!
ReplyDeleteHi Sandy L what a lucky lady to have such a cratfy huby...amazing what we accumulate!! Lots of art journaling viseos out there...my favourite is Julie-fei fan-Balzer...take a look.. enjoy

Happy crafting.
Thanks for sharing and for stopping by my blog. Hugs, Neet x #5
Oh bless, Sandy - what a fab hubby! Isn't it great when your life partner is supportive? My ex husband wasn't, I sad to say, but Mr B will be the best, and that's why I love him!
ReplyDeleteLove the scarf, it's great to projects progressing when we visit week to week!

ReplyDeletePeggy, I hope you're feeling better--take care!
DeleteNice color on the shelves you didn't need any help filling them up! Can't wait to see the purple added into the butterfly scarf~ Tamika #34
ReplyDeleteGlad to see your shelves full up already. They look good, but I bet you will soon have an overflow again. that is the law of crafting. Your stuff expands to fill and overflow its space. Thank you for your visit this week and your kind comments. They are much appreciated. By the way, you are doing well to get to 100 WOYWWers. I don't get anywhere near that these days. xx Maggie #100
ReplyDeleteGirl I have never seen so many comments. I have never visited that many desks. I think because I leave too long a comment. What an achievement to visit 100.
ReplyDeleteWell the shelves are amazing. You are blessed with a talented husband. I like how you arranged the items on the shelves. It looks pretty.
Thanks for visiting my desk this week and yes, you did see a smash album. I like what you said about art journaling, one day I will have to try it. Have a great week.
