WOYWW 329 - Midori Re-Do

Playing with some scraps for a Midori September challenge
Happy What's-On-Your-Workdesk-Wednesday! Here on the pullout on the side of my crafty desk, for a change of view, I've got my new Midori. I know, call me crazy crafty, but I made myself another Midori with the matryoshka fabric, because I wanted it to be a bit bigger than the first one I made for myself. I need my Midori to be around 9X12-1/2 because it must accommodate my five notebooks and a six-folder pocket inside a dashboard. The notebooks include a planner which I'm really loving and an art journal made of watercolor paper. I think it's time to post another little tour of my Midori. I'm making several from this fabric, some cute owl fabric, some Mary Engelbreit fabric from my stash, and some Christmas fabric. I'll either sell them on Etsy, or in a local shop owned by a friend if that works out for around $25 for these large ones without notebooks and $30 with a 2016 planner and notebook included. I line them with white felt and include a pocket in the front. But for my own Midori I took the time to embroider the inside back cover. I love wearable art, and this is kind of like wearable art--being able to take your embroidery around with you everywhere.

So it's time to get on the treadmill (I'm watching a show called Land Girls these days) and have my coffee and go for some desk visits!

    Hi Sandy! Thanks for your visit. To answer your question, when Google indexes your page, it means they've logged it so it will show up in search results. It's always a good thing!     I've seen a lot about Mary Englebreit on Facebook recently, but don't know much about her. She's obviously very much on trend if there are fabrics with her design on. Your planners are beautiful, a real work of art...
    How is your eye now? Hope you are recovering ok after your surgery.
    I'm in the midst of a building site at the moment. I'm hoping that it's going to get better very soon :-)

      Oh my goodness, I just visited you! Yes, Mary Englebreit is actually from St. Louis, which is not far from where I live. She is HUGE! There is Mary Englebeit everything--calendars, dishware, cards, fabrics, artwork. It is all because of her amazing illustrations about the magic of life. I love her. And the eye is doing better every day. Thanks for checking on me soul sister.

    Honestly I always thought a midori was some girly drink but I see the word has branched out to include planners and the like. Whatever you call them, yours are gorgeous! So much info all in one spot. I'm sure they are wonderful to have on hand. Judy #48

    Your commitment to planners (and your results making them) are simply fascinating! The price doesn't sound bad for so much crafty handiwork... I guess one seldom can ask a price worth all the hours of artwork, but if you call it "play" you can be satisfied with what you get :) happy woyww!

    I love you book Midori though gorgeous fabric have a real set of those dolls in my cabinet was my mothers..

    That Midori is gorgeous - the fabric is beautiful and I love the hand embroidery. I'm sure they'd be snapped up at that price! Hope you are enjoying Land Girls - my mother-in-law was in the land army so we watched and enjoyed the series with great interest.

    Not quite sure what a midori is, but yours is lovely! I do love that Russian dolls fabric - so bright and pretty. Thank you for such a lovely comment, and especially for your prayers. I had some good news today from the oncologist - as I am near the end now, she is reducing the dose by half!! I should feel a lot better as a result. She is worried about one particular side effect and wants to minimise it. So I can face the final two treatments a lot better, knowing I should feel better afterwards. Sorry to hear you had eye surgery - I would be terrified of that!! I am glad you like my purple stuff. I made the little basket yesterday to put it all in, and you can now see it on my blog.
