Happy Wednesday desker lovelies! Click here to visit the brave crafty souls who are revealing what's on their worktables today at Ms. Julia's Stamping Ground. Right now my desk is 30% typewriter, 20% embroidery, 30% bits and bobs, 10% art journaling, and 10% tag making.
Let's see what have I been doing...
1- Making a concerted effort to shop my stash and cut down on my visits to Michaels and JoAnns. (cut down, people...not cut out)
2- Using a sunny morning to have a little photo shoot with my typewriter...typing up fun little sayings I can use on future blog posts and maybe in my crafty book.
3- Working in my junk journal (on the left) I made last year. Want to make another one!
4- Finishing up my second matryoshka doll cross-stitch--still haven't decided if they will be a banner, pillows or an art quilt! I'm just having fun stitching them and watching Downton Abbey. I tend to watch every episode at least twice, because there is so much to look at, I don't catch everything the first time. Love that Maggie Smith...she has the best lines this season! I remember seeing her in The Prime of Miss Jean Brody long, long ago and loved her then!
5- Kind of missing the old days with the typewriter--would love to create some actual book pages with it. A miracle that all the ribbons I bought for this thing in 1990 are still perfectly good.
I hope you are feeling happy, creative, and healthy today.
Eat, Write, Dream, Stitch
Sounds like you've been busy, busy, busy!! Enjoy it all! I haven't seen, or used, a typewriter in years. Can't say I miss 'em much either, as computer are much more forgiving with my typing mistakes, lol!

Wow a real typewriter. It is funny how a few years ago (in my youth?) I would think that thing was so useless and outdated. Now as I am OLD I think how cool it is and what I would make with it. Time changes us all I suppose...lol Shel#55
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great plan, Sandy Leigh--and what a fun typewriter, too, with all those stickers and such! I have one that was my father's, and another that was my uncle's--they're both quite old, and still work perfectly fine!
ReplyDeleteHappy woyww to you! Enjoy the warm weather today--the cold is going to catch up to us soon!

Goodness, you have a lot going on on your desk! I love the old typewriter - I have one but can't get the ribbon into it properly! Hope you have a great week,

there's something wonderful about the clickety clackety of a typewriter's sound that modern keyboards just don't match! I'm so glad you're having fun using it, maybe there's a novel in you just waiting to burst forth!
ReplyDeleteIt's fun to see your junk journal too, now that just looks like you had fun putting that together! It's mad and colourful and fun, just like you ;-)
Good luck with your fabric storing - I've not found a good solution yet. I sort it out but it never stays tidy. I wish I had a room full of library type shelves that I could just have stacks of fabric instead of books. That would be my fantasy workroom, I think, with a massive window at one side where my workdesk would be. Ah, what a lovely daydream :-)
Actually, my real room is a complete tip!! So tomorrow, when the weather forecast is horrendous, is going to be my sorting out day! Think of me......

That typewriter brings back memories of my first job at the ripe old age of 19, circa 1988! Computers were still rare. it was the time before Windows, there was only DOS, and WordPerfect, and telex machines! I still remember it like it was yesterday! It was an age of innocence in a way! Thanks for bringing back those memories, Sandy! I hope to take a closer look at your junk journal next time! Thanks for visiting earlier and for leaving such a lovely comment! zsuzsa @ InkyDinkyDoodle
ReplyDeleteaaah crafting with Downton - perfect! I love those matryoshka dolls and have three sets of them, how lovely to have a cross stitch version - I think the banner would look really cool :o) Annie #63
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are having such a fun time being crafty! Love the typewriter! Boy, to think....most of our young people would not know what that is! LOL!
ReplyDeleteYour typewriter reminds me of my little word processor one I had when I was a kid. You've got your hands in so many pots... sounds familiar!
ReplyDeleteOh, and I totally feel you about shopping your stash. I need to do the same thing myself more often for sure.
Just LOVE the stickers all over your typewriter! Great!! Enjoy all your different project ideas - nice cross stitch. Well done.
ReplyDeleteTake care. God bless.
