JAVA LOVE MUG RUG

Enjoy some coffee love on Valentines weekend with heart-filled over-sized mug rugs.

I am making a set of Valentines-inspired mug rugs, each in a nice large square to accommodate a big mug of coffee, and a generous breakfast cookie...or slice of fresh coffee cake!

My mug rug mission started with several loved-and-worn quilt squares I found at my flea market. They seemed to be happy at their transformation into usable, loveable mug rugs. Plus, the foundation of putting the piece together was already done!

First, I embroidered right onto the quilt patch...Java Love! For emblishments, I cross-stitched two heart patches, on silver dusted aida cloth, and hand stitched my little heart patches onto the quilt patch with red floss. I found a lovely heart lace trim in my sewing basket--perfect for finishing the edge of this mug rug.

There is lots of red and pink--perfect for a lovely Valentines morning!

Next I need to get out my Valentine cookie recipes, and our favorite coffee cake!

My poor garden--buried in the snow!

In the meantime, we are digging out here in the Snowzarks! But we had a beautiful snowfall Friday afternoon--like something right out of a snowglobe...so we took advantage with an outdoor photo shoot.

Hopefully everyone's pre-Valentines weekend will be filled with warm happy days
to eat, write, dream and stitch!

  1. Hi Sandy, I think your blog is just beautiful! I usually read it through google reader, so you don't get the full effect! Very nice! I am sure it is not too late to join in Every Inchie Monday, just go to the blog, a link is on my site, and shoot a message to Kris. I'm sure she'd be happy to have you play along! Most everyone is a mixed media artist but I decided to play in fabric, my first love. I hope to see your inchie next week...I think the theme is fish, I'm not sure though, so check on the blog.
