Stitch Your Heart Out from Stash - Stash Dash 2015 Heart Week

Stash Dash 2015 Five Simple Rules - click here

I think all crafters have their "go-to" crafty work that they love, and they may even have it with them constantly in their bag, or in their car, or at the office.

For me, it was cross-stitch before I really got into sewing, embroidery of all kinds, knitting, tag making, scrapbooking and cardmaking. And no matter where I am, I always have little squares of aida cloth and floss with me. If I'm sitting in a waiting room, or stuck in a line--I'm that crazy lady who'd rather stitch than look at her phone like the rest of the world.

To stitch little hearts, I don't need a pattern, it's the same heart every time. Although the first time I stitched this heart pattern it was a wall hanging with many hearts in different color combos--which is very cute, by the way, I realized at some point I could stitch one at a time, on one little square and applique it to anything and any design.
The things my cross-stitch hearts go on:
Art Journals
Art Quilts
Bags
Banners
Cards
Clothes
Dolls
Envelopes
Lanyards
Mug Rugs
Pillows
Scrapbook Pages

Wall Hangings

That's a lot for some little stashy hearts!

My little hearts really do come from stash, because the aida cloth squares are always cut from leftovers...I have a huge stash of DMC floss (read here about the floss lover)...and I don't know if there is a more inexpensive hobby than embroidery! As I always say, it's yoga, it's therapy, and it makes me happy. That's what you need in this busy, complicated world! Happy heart week. Put that phone down and stitch a little.

  1. Hi Sandy I love that idea and I'm going to tell my stitch friends to have a look at what you do.
I've just added a blog reading list to the side bar of my blog and it's so useful I can't believe I didn't do it before and I've added you to it. That's how I came to see your post so quickly.
I was popping across to tell you I've added another post about my little altered book. You can see what I did with it yesterday.

  2. I love all of these ideas! Because I create art journals I am more partial to those. I love the bright colors of the wall hanging, very cheerful!
