WOYWW 209--That's Right...I Can Make My Own Envelopes!

Happy What's-On-Your-Workdesk-Wednesday Lovelies! If I sound a wee bit proud of myself in my post title, well...I am! I got a new toy, a scoring board, and I am amazed at the beautiful envelopes I've been making. But even more amazing is this: I have a stash of scrapbook papers that I no longer think is cute enough to scrapbook with (because I'm always finding something cuter) and yet these scrapbook papers look sooo cute when they're turned into envelopes! Especially the double-sided papers, because it looks like the envelope has a liner.

Oh happy day! I'm an envelope artist! Thank you Martha Stewart for making these tools!

So, now the trick will be to actually make cards with envelopes that match--instead of sitting around here just making envelopes and being in awe of the transformation of my old stash. But, mother's 87th birthday is in two days, then daughter's 19th birthday the day after that, and then my 24th wedding anniversary two days after that. (I was in the hospital with a baby on my fifth wedding anniversary...the nurses brought us a special dinner that night.)

So I have great reasons to make cards and matching envelopes!

In other news, I am knitting those squares right on schedule so I can begin the painstaking task of sewing together a throw. Then, I suddenly started having this urge to knit a cute tank top--so I'm tackling that next.

I had a Hobby Lobby shopping spree on clear stamps. Very excited about my new clear stamps!!

Oh how I wish I could have attended the WOYWW anniversary crop--love all you ladies, and from afar I so appreciate Julia and Jan and how they give of themselves to the deskers, and make these magical things happen!

Be a sticky-beak and visit all the deskers here.

  1. Hi Sandy, don't you just love it when a new tool beats all your expectations - and a great use for those un-loved 12x12s too - (I made paper bags for my craft fairs out of some hideous ones I had that came in a paperstack) Those stamps look fun too. MMx #68

  3. That is such a great idea - I have so many older scrapbook papers that I cannot part with yet don't want to use either. Doing something with those papers is better than nothing. Have fun with your new stamps! Happy WOYWW! Tammy #99

  4. Nice stuff Sandy, funny how it takes a score board toget you into envelopes - I've had a couple ATCs from the anniversary that have arrived in envelopes made from magazine pages..there's no end to the ideas out there! Love the knitting and that you're getting carried away with it, and a spree at Hobby Lobby - how awful for you!!

  6. What glorious colours in that envelope. Beautiful. The knitted squares just seem to go with it.....no, don't think a throw would look QUITE right with an envelope in the centre....
    Enjoy your new toy.

  7. Sandy I am actually picking up my my Envelop maker (by We R Memory Keeper) today at LSS. I ordered it and it finally arrived. I think I would do the same thing with my old scrap paper and then laugh at how none of my cards match. But perhaps you could make notecards with simple items so that they coordinate with anything. I can't wait to play with mine.

Oh I love the stamps. Wish I had a Hobby Lobby!

Stop by my desk if you are free. Would love to hear from you.

Those envelopes are amazing..what a clever tool that is..you'll never have to have boring envelopes ever again...how lovely!
And I'm getting to the point where I'm going to have to join up all my crochet squares prior to edging it...this is the sort of boring stuff that I'm rubbish at....I just want to move on to the next project!!
We will get around to skyping soon..I'm away this weekend at my dads so let's keep it in mind!

  18. What a super cool envelope! Is that some old Basic Grey paper? I love their papers that are primarily one color, but with lots of interesting visual texture to them. (I just got a bargain at Michael's on stamps -- they have completely revamped their Tim Holtz area and I got two sets of cling stamps for 4.99 and 5.99 respectively.) Happy WOYWW (and thanks for your visit.) ~ Laura
