It's actually Tuesday here and pouring snow outside. What more inspiration do I need to do a little art journaling?
It's not only fun to take a photo of your worktable once in a while, it's really fun to link it up to:
What's-On-Your-Workdesk-Wednesday!
Lately I've realized the lack of art journaling going on--and I don't know why. It can be done with just ten minutes a day really. So I've decided to art journal much more often in a spiral bound XL multimedia book. Those white pages, ready for water color, stamping, gluing and writing, are just very freeing. I have old music books, dictionaries, and vintage dress patterns--plenty to tear up, glue, stamp and write on. Every day!
Whenever I have one of those 25%-off-the-whole-purchase coupons at Michaels, that's when I buy my pearl cotton flosses. They are perfect just looped around rings. No cutting or separating--they just pull off the knot, one at a time and ready to embroider.
A better look at my latest doodle stitching. My favorite thing to do lately is to watch Downton and embroider. By the way, fellow D.A. fans, did I miss something? I don't understand why Thomas thinks that the new ladies maid constantly owes him information. I don't even think they showed her being hired, so I know something is up with that. I do enjoy seeing her use that incredibly vintage sewing machine though! Happy Wednesday dears.

I like all your projects, but my favorite by far is your doodle stitching home. That's a sweet pic of you and your daughter too. Happy WOYWW and Blessings! #28

ReplyDeleteHi Sandy....wish I could doodle even on paper like that, your stitching is fabulous. Wish we had Michaels here in Australia - you all get such great bargains. Cosy up and keep warm happy crafting RobynO #16
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely photo of you and your daughter, Sandy. My DD would love some of your snow!!!
ReplyDeleteYour journalling page is beautiful and so are your beautiful embroidery threads. I know they will be put to good use.
I think they just like keeping it a mystery why Thomas has something over the ladies maid, (can't remember her name) Keeping watching though, she sorts him out in the end!!

I still love the fact that you are completely hooked on Downton Abbey when you live in the US! I'm going to go to Highclere Castle this summer (the exterior is shot there) and take some pics for you. It's only an hour away from where I love...I might even drag Julia along! Apparently they have a lot of Egypt antiquities there as Lord Carter was part of the group who discovered Tutankhamun....
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I digress...sorry! I love your fabric collage and embroidery. I feel it's the thing I ought to have a go at but I know it wouldn't turn out anything as beautifully as yours. I'm completely smitten by yarn at the moment. I can't wait to finish the wristwarmers so I can get started on the crochet baby blanket. I made a promise to myself that I was going to finish projects before starting new ones this year...I'm dreadful for having at least three things on the go at any one time....Bad LLJ.... :-)
I'm quite glad we haven't got snow...honestly we've has terrible storms and rain though. The next county to mine is mostly covered in floods at the moment. Poor people living there. it must be hard.
I have little pink cyclamen and daffodils pushing their noses through my grassy bank...and the days are getting longer. It's fab!

I really love your collage and that beautiful floss looks tempting - I could just dip into a few strands of that!! x Jo
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm totally off. Downton, so you prolly won't want to speak to me now! I love love your doodle stitching, that is just lovely. As I do your journal page actually, love the way you've worked round the tag shape. Clever you.
ReplyDeleteBoth your embroidery and art journal pages are super. BJ#73
