WOYWW 196--Sewing...Seeding...Waiting for the Repairman!

Hello and happy Wednesday lovely WOYWWers! Also hello to non-WOYWWers...this is the day of the week that some of us hop over to the Stamping Ground by Mrs. Dunnit and link our wonderful, wild workdesks to her blog party. So fun.

Although I'm usually at my little white worktable--it's really not that busy today. Here it is though, leaf down. I rushed home to meet the satellite dish repairman, and since the DVR is in that room I tidied up before he got there, so I really wasn't working on anything. I just plopped down my bag, and the goodies I picked up at Michaels this week--some felt by the yard on clearance, and some Mary Engelbreit papers for a dollar! Oh, and a new little box to keep some paper bits and bobs and my ongoing Smashbook art journal in. There now--mess is contained, not too messy for the repairman to see!

Then, I spent the rest of the day on my greenhouse at my potting bench. At the dollar store, I picked up these collapsable spray bottles--so cheap, and so handy! Love it! Also got some plastic showercaps. These are perfect to create a little greenhouse effect around some of the pots where I'm starting seeds. Then I went crazy over the one-dollar gardening gloves, and stocked up.
Shower caps on my pots to start seedlings!

Jan! I too wish we were neighbors and could trade seeds! I don't even think any of my neighbors have a garden--it's just a neighborhood full of perfect backyard lawns--and then there's me! The crazy gardening lady! I say grow food, not lawns.
First it's flat.

Then it's full!
So...big sigh...I've started more seeds, the repairman bloke (Julia, by the way, supports my enthusiasm for English expressions) finally arrived, fixed everything, and now this morning, it doesn't work again. Big sigh.

I just keep dreaming about my garden this year...the fun things I'm going to make with two yards of white felt...and the owl bag I'm making for darling daughter. Who needs TV, right? Have a wonderful, crafty day everyone!

More gardening gloves!

  4. Oh Sandy, what a fab idea to use shower caps over the seedlings. I have a little greenhouse but all its every used for is to over winter a few plants…I really should use it more because I love flowers.
Glad you managed to find some crafty bargains as well as gardening ones though, so have fun with your new stash.

    Happy Crafting!

  5. Isn't it funny how we tidy up for the repairman! I do just the same and we've seen plenty of those this week. In the end I gave up though!!
Ahhh Haaa I didn't know you were a gardener. How I long to potter in my greenhouse but it's still too cold here. I love the shower cap greenhouses over your seeds and those spray bottles are magic. Wish we could get those. I could do with a new pair of gloves too. I think I''m going to have to move next door to you!!
    Happy WOYWW

  6. Oh I don't do that much gardening, but I do wear gloves, so they would be a score for me, for sure. Also dear gal, I have to admit that if i could grow pots of 'big boy' I prolly would garden more! Love your use of (useless repair) bloke..get him back and threaten him with a shower cap!

  7. Shower cap,greenhouses...well, that's ingenious!! And those collapsible spray bottles are such a good idea... I have never seen anything like those in England :( I'd be with you, mussing up my tidy garden in order to grow more veggies. Two years ago, I dug up a whole herbaceous flower border in order to put four raised beds in!
I love your use of bloke! Lol. If you travel across the Uk and go into a small local shop, people will call you different names: chuck, love, pet, me duck, Darlin', man (regardless if you're a bloke or a lassie), mate.....I could go on! In Wales, if you see a very fit (handsome) bloke walking down the street, then he is tidy!! So you could well say "Brad Pitt? He's well tidy! And it doesn't mean that he is handy with dustpan and brush......... ;)
