WOYWW 271--Crafty Table Freshness
Good morning! - or...Good evening...depending on where you are in the world. I am at my crafty table in the USA Ozarks on Tuesday evening throwing my What's-On-Your-Workdesk-Wednesday blog together to go up Wednesday morning because I love all these deskers and it's super fun to take that mid-day peek into our crafty lives!
Well kids, it's that time of year in my town when the children go back to school! Vacation is over, the morning traffic is a little more hectic, and I am back to a full week in the office as well. I will do my best to not let my crafty life suffer. The way I do that is I try to line up little projects I can easily work on in spurts. This week I am cutting out things and making a whole bunch of art tags to sell at the fall craft fair. Some of them have stamping, stitching, you name it. They will all have some kind of sentiment on them, and I feel artsy when I'm making them--so that's good!
I'm also making little travel watercolor kits with Altoids tins and packaging from Dentyne Ice gum. They make the ideal paint wells that fit right into the tins! I love upcycling packaging--and my breath is oh so fresh on this project!
I hope you find your bliss and joy every day and have a great week.

Feeling artsy is good indeed! The tubes on the picture, is that special paint you use fo make the watercolor kits? Looks like a fun project!

ReplyDeleteAre you using gelatos on your fabric? I saw them sitting together and wasn't sure...I've never tried that!

Hi Sandy,
ReplyDeleteYour desk looks nice and busy! I don't have children but I do have a full time job and my craft life suffers. I usually knit during the week while unwinding from work and do other things on the weekend, if I have the energy.
Please show us your finished tags! I'm planning to be in a craft fair in November and I'm having a hard time with what I want to sell. I thought of making little kits of handmade envelopes and tags that people can use for either art journaling or scrapbooking. Not sure if they would be successful or not. My knitted spa cloths are always a huge seller so I've been knitting those in the evenings.
I have several people saving their tins for me. The idea of making little watercolor tins out of them is perfect - except I don't chew gum!
Thank you for visiting me already. Today I'm off work so hoping to get around to at least those that have visited me so far.
Happy WOYWW

Great busy desk ! Good luck with the projects for your craft fair ! Thanks for visiting Ali x #7
ReplyDeleteHow funny that you were thinking of making an ironing board cover too! Mine worked out through sheer luck, it could so easily have been a disaster. Luckily the Crafting Angel was watching out for me. It has improved my ironing board 100% but as it's only furnishing fabric, I think we'll have to be careful.
ReplyDeleteLove all your crafty ideas for the fair. The tags are super and if you really enjoy making them, then so much the better.
That paint palette recycling is a clever idea! You are the Queen of Repurposing stuff. I was saying on someone else's blog how much I miss painting...I always drew, every day, and that hasn't happened for a long while. And the only person who can change that is me! Watch this space......

ReplyDeleteLove the travel kit idea but watercolour is one thing I just don't ever do. Now, to expand the idea to something I DO do..... hummm....

Thank heavens I still have 3 weeks before the School traffic starts again! I love the idea of the watercolor kits. Great way to reuse the tins/packaging. Have fun with the tags, they look great!
ReplyDeleteLove your travel tins. I could feel right at home at this desk. The free table at our fiber arts meeting is a very busy place! Thanks for visiting

ReplyDeleteLove the tines and the compartments - how fabulous to be able to make those. Will have to look out for them when I am next in America. Am assuming you are there?
ReplyDeleteGot quite taken up with your bio on the side of your blog - I need to spend more time looking at what you have been doing.
Thanks for visiting me - am late because of being away from home and no signal - again!
