WOYWW 391 - Singing, Dancing, Crafting

Happy What's-on-your-Workdesk-Wednesday lovelies! Just click on that link if you're mystified.

My desk is full of happy place goodness, like my birthday mug from darling nephew, my listy pad with lots of shopping lists, my cross-stitch and even that kitty pen. I love that kitty pen. And being super busy with work and rehearsals for the musical 9 to 5, I am just having a ball. Now, you would think I'd be dog tired all the time (at 56 I'm even older than Jan!!)--but energy seems to promote more energy! I do have to get my sleep though, take my vitamins, use my cool mist essential oil humidifier, totally limit night time carbs, and drink plenty of water. Hello! High maintenance! But that's okay. The only cookies for me are apparently here on blogger where they have a notice up about telling my European friends we have cookies. But trust me, they are not chocolate chip.

I have experienced more desk delight lately because of this amazing thing--one of those multi-pocket tote organizers. I picked up two on sale for half-price, and they've change my life, oh yeh. This one carries the brunt of my messy deskness. It's just packed with things that I like to keep out and about and in view, but they are all organized, including some rings of washi tape hanging on a ring on the tote. That tote thinks of everything. I love her. I even have a Hello Kitty flashdrive hanging there! And of course, that's my new glue gun--remember, the one that is cordless AND has a light! I am notorious for actually losing glue guns. So that baby is in sight at all times.

To the left is multi-pocket organizing craft tote no. 2. This is my bible-art-journaling tote. So it is packed with all of those supplies. I can just carry it to the coffee table if I want to hang out there and journal, I can take it to bed and journal with my lap desk, or even to my sunroom. The Reset Girl on Youtube is responsible for this, and I love her. She even took one of those craft totes on a plane. So, I'm pretty sure I could take this anywhere I'm going to be camped out for a while and want something creative to do. It is heavy though--it has so many pockets inside and out, that you have no problem stuffing in your markers, ink pads, stamps, planners, journals, bibles, and little makeup bags to organize your ephemera, stickers and embellishments. LOVE!!!

And check me out--it is the last room of the 12-month dollhouse cross-stitch!!! It is almost complete. It's the garage, and I still have another thing to stitch on the shelf, and some outlining to do. Woo hoo!
Right now we are rehearsing 9 to 5 The Musical on the fourth floor of our Little Theatre (and by the way, there is NO elevator). It was renovated from some major grants, and I just love touches like this where they have painted on some motivation. So cute. Here's where I am A LOT right now.

Happy Wednesday! I'm off to visit the WOYWW village!

  1. When something is half price - it's a good excuse to buy two! Good job with the cross stitch - you're ahead of schedule to finish it before the end of the year! I hope to see it in its entirety soon! Happy WOYWW! zsuzsa #22

  2. Wonderful mug! and yes, a happy desk.
that rolodex is my stamp file system. I stamp and label them- all cling mount- on the card- some cross referenced, and note on the card where they are stored. I keep the stamps in ring binders in pocket protectors, and some in drawers, and some on my desk! it's the best system I've found. I know the exact size and usually where the stamp is!

  3. Ooh I love the tote, what a fab idea to have everything so handy like that - my washi tape is in a box at the back of a shelf and I always forget I have it - I love the idea of hanging them on rings. I'm looking forward to seeing your beautiful embroidery finally finished - I bet it feels good to be ahead of schedule! Please send some of your energy over the water to me, I'm exhausted just reading about all you are doing!!! I hope you have a great week, it sounds like you are having loads of fun,

I had to laugh about the cookies. :) I cannot remember which way I picked it for mine but, people are still stopping by so it must have worked. Thanks for the earlier visit, ~Stacy #36

  7. Wow girl, you've got it all going on! Loving the routine, and totally get that controlling the carbs helps with the energy..it's not high maintenance so much as good maintenance! Great ideas with the totes, and I can just imagine how heavy, mine feels like a bag of bricks, but as you say, worth the effort of lugging it! The cross stir tech is just wonrful, you must be so pleased with it.

  9. What a happy post, Sandy. So full of positive thoughts and bright colours! I love the totes. I've got a small one that I keep on my Martha Stewart Circle Cutter which doesn't cut terribly good circles but acts as a wonderful revolving base! I stuff all my regular use tools in there and I love it. Thanks for your visit and your lovely comment - always worth carving out an hour or two for a bit of Zentangle!

    Happy WOYWW,

  11. You can feel the energy fizzing out of this post Sandy! I always have lots going on too, especially with the band at the moment - Christmas is the crazy time but I do enjoy it so much. Those craft totes have been such a success eh? I suppose that you do such a wide variety of things that it makes sense to keep all the important stuff in one place. The crossstitch is looking great!

  12. Gosh, you are so busy and coping so well - I am exhausted just reading about what is happening.
I love the opening sentence - your desk is full of happy place goodness. Those words herald a very lovely post.

  13. Happy Belated WOYWW. Only just sitting down with my laptop. I love all your bright photos. I look forward to seeing the completed cross stitch. I haven't done any stitching for years now, and have absolutely no inclination at all. Strange, as I used to stitch for 5-6 hours per day and run a related business online - it was my total life! Your totes are brilliant. I have my washi tape in baskets on the top of one of my Ikea Raskog trolleys - I tend to not use things unless they are in sight all the time (ie ribbon, stickers etc, which are in boxes in a cupboard). 14. You do look so organised! It seems to me though that if you weren't life would be a little bit hectic! Love the cross stitch! Chris x 27

  16. Yay! Let's hear it for the thespians in our midst! I'm in the middle of panto. This year, for my sins, I'm busy with the directing side of it, rather than performing. Last year I had the lead in Beauty & The Beast, and let me tell you, I wasn't Beauty! They wanted a female for the Beast as they thought I'd be less scary than the men.... LOL.

Hope you're keeping well and those lovely totes are still doing their job...
