WOYWW 301--A Little Bead Happy

My bead-happy bracelet-crafting bonanza-making-heyday continues to be spread out all over my desk.

Happy What's-On-Your-Workdesk-Wednesday

So this week, Imma jewelry maker. That's right. Busting my bead stash really. Apparently last year I was very efficient and frugal, hitting the bead and wire sales with coupons galore. So now, I have stash. I'm currently in love with these rich pink Czek glass seed beads. I like the gold ones too. I'm making bangle bracelets to wear, share, and sell. Every morning lately, I enjoy my coffee and a little bead stringing. It's a happy way to start the day--that is after I've done my two miles on the treadmill! Then, I go to the office to a job I really love. Then, in the late afternoon, I'm back home, starting dinner, feeding the cats, and, yes, stringing beads! I have been alternating that also with cross-stitching on the matryoshka dolls. Love it all!

A photo from when I was working on no. 3--I'm actually on no. 4 now!
Last week's 300th WOYWW was really fun--I tried very hard to visit every desk, and I really appreciate all my visitors and how sweet your comments were about the story of my first little desk. To answer a couple of questions, I do not still have it--I'm pretty sure it fell apart many years ago...it was, afterall, a little nightstand. And yes, in my family we call a bedside table a nightstand. Yes, I really did have dozens of Little Kiddle dolls! Here's why. I got a huge set of them--they came in this big flat box packaged together, for my birthday that year...November. Then in early December, my mother took me with her to her employer's Christmas banquet. The owners of the business gave me a present, and it was, guess what, the same set of Little Kiddles! Of course, to mom's embarrassment, I pointed that out. But also told them I could never have too many Little Kiddles (after I saw the look on her face). I remember the adults laughing. What a pill. Many moons later, my little daughter did the same thing at a birthday party, over one of those big Barbie hairstyling heads! And also, if you were afraid to read my last paragraph last week, I did not give away any Downton spoilers. I would never do that. I just prattled on and on about my love for that show and how it pains me to wait for the next season! See, I'm still a pill!

Happy Wednesday.

  2. What a lovely way to start and end your day, Sandy. I never have time to craft before work, if I picked anything up I'd loose track of time and never get to work, lol. Not sure if the news has reached the US yet, but I have heard the next season of Downton is going to be the last........if it is it'll be such a shame.

  3. Ha Ha...me too! Not sure how true it is but I've heard it several times lately. The Duchess of Cambridge is visiting the set while they are filming the new series this week and is supposed to be having a look at the servants quarters!!
Thanks for just popping by my blog. I'm just gluing the paper at the moment but hadn't decided whether to mod podge over, I quite like the matt finish of the paper and only have glossy modge!!

  6. Oh, I want to come and play with your bead stash! I could bring mine and we could swap. You've made some lovely bangles, hope they sell well!
It's felt like Spring here over the past couple of days..yesterday was fine and warm. I've been outside a lot, tidied my greenhouse ready for seed planting...but it's too soon for that yet. Given that we often have severe frosts and often snow in April, I've learned the hard way over the years to be patient and just wait a little!
It's been a tough week... found out that my Dad can't stay in the independent living flat, he's not managing too good. So I've been investigating old folks' homes that specialise in dementia. Hard thing to do :-( However, I think I've found a nice one, so that's positive anyway.
Hope you and your lovely family are all doing ok,
    Hugs, LLJ 5 xx

  13. What a great story, Sandy. I imagine your poor mum nearly died of embarrassment! What fun you've been having this week - lovely bracelets. Well done. Good cross stitch, too.
Thanks for visiting. Yes, my big shot sits permanently on my desk, ready for use at a moment's notice - it was a fabulous gift from Mrs D and her hubby a couple of years ago after I shielded and then fielded all their emails whilst Mr D was in hospital for major, major surgery - a beautiful, generous gift.
    Take care. God bless.

  15. Love all your beads, Sandy! Thanks for your lovely comment and good wishes for next week. The waiting game is always hard, but you are so right about getting into the living one day at a time mindset. I am enjoying these halcyon days of rest and relaxation and gradually recovering from my extreme fatigue after all the stress. Each day is like a bead on a chain!

    Happy WOYWW,

  27. Thanks for your visit earlier this week - and I'm sure you would not have been able to hit every stand on the Craft show that I visited... there were too many, really! I love your cross stitched matryoshka dolls - and they remind me of a project I planned years ago (but forgot about...) to make a box in a book with a box in it with a book in it and so on... I will add it to my 'ideas I want to work on' list (I have a few lists you know...ha!) Happy woyww and a hug from HOlland. Marit #50

  30. Oh what pretty beads! The only beading I have ever done is putting little beads on my (lace maker) bobbins to weigh them down. English bobbins are very thin and need to be a little heavier, so people put beads on.
Thank you for visiting earlier in the week and for your kind comment.
Sorry I'm so late with this but the house we were staying in in Italy didn't have internet. My son does but we were not able to go to his house as the village was/probably still is completely snowed in. Wednesday morning I went to a coffee bar that had wifi and posted my little contribution.
I'm now back home and catching up on stuff, downloading (baby) photos and keeping the washing machine going.
    Have a great week,
    Lisca
