A Breath of Fresh Travel Paints--Creating on the Go-Go

Now you've got fresh breath and fresh creativity!

I have always wanted one of those super cute Koi travel watercolor kits--but I didn't really want to pay twenty dollars for one. But now I've seen how to make your own travel watercolors all over You Tube and various blogs and I had to try it. I used an Altoids tin, an empty Dentyne Ice gum package and my tube watercolors. I secured the plastic wells down with a couple of glue dots on the bottom. I let the watercolors dry for 24 hours before taking them on the go. The Dentyne Ice packaging lets you have eight different colors of your choice, and the Altoids tin will also fit a travel watercolor brush, a sponge, and even an old credit card if you do some scraping in your artwork. Perfect! This was fun to make, and now I want to make some for friends. I just have to finish decorating my tin!

Then there's a little stitching on the go. I still love this little travel kit complete with variegated floss (so I feel like I'm using more than one color) little precut squares ready to stitch the hearts I use in applique, a needle of course, and my stork scissors. It's tiny and fits into any bag I'm using. Love, love, love.

WOYWW 270--Getting Unstuck

Do you ever get stuck inbetween projects trying to figure out the next thing you really want to make? Seriously, I need to get a grip on this and get my creative mojo going again!

It's What's-On-Your-Workdesk-Wednesday and I'm sending a photo of my desk to you right from the beautiful, sunny, summer Ozarks.

I've got this stack of fabric, ready to go on some tags and mixed media ideas.

Now I thought my new ATG gun would really get me motivated on my cards and scrapbooking. But honestly, it took all I had just to figure out how to load this thing! I'm still not quite sure if I like it that much. Give me a week a with it.

When all else fails though--pull out the box of beads. Making bracelets with those little glass seed beads and copper wire makes me happy.
Now I'm off to the store for some white champagne vinegar. I'm getting ready to pick some fresh tomatoes and peppers and make some salsa to can in some really cute little fat jars. Apparently DH used up the champagne vinegar I had in the cupboard to unclog a drain! (that's a very fancy way to unclog a drain) But no worries. It's better to get new ingredients like that when you are canning. Cheers and hugs!

Birthday Card for My Writer Buddy

A little birthday card for a writer friend.

Of course I had to make a matching envelope...you know how I love to make envelopes!

This was a guy card--so I brought out the black grosgrain ribbon, black cardstock, and a couple of vintage buttons. I love this birthday stamp from Unity. I wrote my message inside with a white gel pen--fun!

I was, of course, in a hurry. Pulling out the pieces I need to put together a card for a friend while I'm on the go. Believe me, I'd much rather be camped out in my cozy crafty corner all day...but thems the breaks.

Here is part of my pile of cardboard packaging I've been cutting. The plan: make zillions of diecuts, emboss them, and paint them! All from perfectly good packaging cardboard. Upcycling at its best! I'll post about it. I love the idea of creating a nice stash of diecut embellishments.

Isn't this hemp cord cute? I'm going to crochet necklace cords with it. I found it, of all places, at Wal-mart. (or, Wally World as my friends and I call it) Sometimes you can find a treasure in their short craft aisle. Every time I go to Wal-Mart, there is a "theme." Sometimes it's babies-crying-in-every-aisle day. Sometimes it's women-inappropriately-dressed day. When I was there the other day it was let's-just-block-the-whole-aisle-with-our-shopping-cart-and-kids day. I swear, in every aisle, someone had their shopping cart completely blocking it with out-of-control children flailing about! You gotta love Wally World. Rant over.

So now, I think I've earned my favorite breakfast from Panera. Woo hoo! And happy Wednesday lovelies.
